IPL's response to the Covid 19 pandemic and staying open policies.

Interlochen Public Library is now open!

Welcome Back Friends and Neighbors!!

Yes, the day is finally here, Interlochen Public Library will open its doors on Wednesday, June 24th, 10:00 am.

Our hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Friday & Saturday 10-4pm.  Wednesday & Thursday 10-7pm.

For the safety of our community and to comply with the CDC’s recommendations you will notice a few changes.  There are plexiglass shields surrounding the circulation area, 6-feet marks throughout the building and limited furniture.  Disinfecting of high-touch surfaces by IPL staff will take place multiple times a day.  Hand sanitizer will be provided for public use.

  • All patrons are required to wear face-coverings to enter the library, unless they cannot medically tolerate one. If you do not have a mask, we will be happy to provide one.

Children under the age of 2 are not required to wear a face-covering.  

  • If you are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms, please do not enter.
  • Patrons must maintain 6 feet of distance from one another.
  • In order to allow time for cleaning and quarantine of materials our building hours and space will be limited.
  • Patrons are asked to spend one hour maximum in the library to reduce exposure to our staff and fellow patrons.
  • The Children’s Room and Teen/ Study Room will have capacity limits.
  • Computer use is limited to one-hour per day.
  • Common shared items such as musical instruments, toys and puzzles will not be available.
  • Multi-use print publications including newspapers and magazines will not be available at this time for browsing. Magazines are available for check out, please contact a staff member if you if you are looking for a specific publication.
  • Water fountains and automatic water bottle fillers will be disabled.
  • The building is routinely cleaned by IPL staff and a professional cleaning team.
  • Community Rooms, Conference Room and enclosed Study/Teen Room is not available for private use at this time.

Don’t forget Summer Reading Club Kits are waiting for you to pick-up. You may view our kickoff program, “Acting Up Theatre” on a YouTube link located on IPL’s website and Facebook page June 24th. There will be weekly Virtual Summer Reading Programs on IPL’s Website.
