Donate new or hand-made mittens, gloves, scarves, and hats to the Friends Holiday Mitten Tree, Nov 29 - Dec 31, during regular hours at Interlochen Public Library. Donated items will help keep little hands, feet, & heads warm this winter.
Nov 29-Dec 31 Friends of Interlochen Public Library Holiday Book Sale
The Friends Holiday Book Sale, open to the public, will be held Nov 29–Dec 31 at Interlochen Public Library. The sale will run daily during regular library hours, offering a wonderful selection of gift-quality, good as new books, just in time for the holidays. All proceeds benefit library programs.
Dec 6 Healthy Holiday Substitutes Let’s Modify Those Recipes at Interlochen Public Library
Healthy Holiday Cooking! A healthier holiday meal doesn't have to mean a big plate of raw vegetables. It can just involve a small change here and there. Join us as Dianna Teasdale shows us how to use substitutions to lighten up our favorite holiday recipes. Wonder if one of your favorite holiday recipes can be modified? Bring a copy with you, and Dianna will let you know! Dianna is a holistic nutritionist, coach, cook, and the founder of Limitless Foundations, LLC. Join us for this free event on Mon., Dec 6, 2 pm – 3:30 pm, at Interlochen Public Library. This is a Health and Wellness Live Your Best Life Program funded with a grant from the Allen Foundation. Dec 7 Grief and the Holidays: Remembering Our Loved Ones at Interlochen Public Library
If you are missing a loved one as the holidays are being celebrated, please join us on Tue., Dec 7, 2 pm–4 pm at Interlochen Public Library to find comfort, share memories and receive compassionate support on your journey with grief. Please bring a photograph of your loved one or a special item that connects you with your loved one to share. A comfort kit will be given to each participant. Facilitated by Sharon A. Neumann, Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist. This program is free, open to the public, and part of the library’s Health & Wellness: Live Your Best Life program series. Dec 18 Friends of Interlochen Public Library Presents: In Memory of LOIS LARSON DRISCOLL, David Holland, Viola, and Joan Raeburn Holland, Harp.
The special concert will take place on Sat., Dec. 18, 2021, at 2 pm at Interlochen Public Library. Joan Raeburn Holland is currently Instructor of Harp at the Interlochen Center for the Arts and Associate Professor of Harp for the University of Michigan. She is Co-Principal Harpist of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra and Principal Harpist of the Midland Symphony Orchestra. David Holland is the former instructor of Viola at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, the adjunct teacher of Viola at Central Michigan University and the University of Michigan, and former Principal Viola of the Traverse and Midland Symphony Orchestras. He is currently a member of the EISH string quartet and is Principal Viola of the Eleva Chamber Orchestra.
Ongoing Friends of Interlochen Public Library Cookbook Fundraiser
The Friends of Interlochen Public Library Community Cookbook is available and ready to purchase for $16.00. “Tables of Content” is a wonderful compendium of the best of our community’s recipes, sure to lead to festive meals and celebrations to suit every taste and level of culinary expertise.
